Plastic Wrapped is an organisation that is dedicated to reducing single-use plastic usage in Auckland, New Zealand. Its primary campaign 'That's a Wrap' targets Generation Z through bright colours, a compassionate, objective tone, and, playful, digital illustrations. This campaign utilises facts and environmental data to educate and enforce positive attitudes towards tackling climate change and encouraging sustainability.
The logo was created by warping text, reminiscent of the tactility of plastic, and how it blows in the wind. The colour scheme consists of two organic colours - blue and green - for the connection to sustainability, and two warmer colours - yellow and orange - combining the ideas of sustainability with positivity and brightness, enforcing the idea of hope for the campaign. It also also accompanied by neutral accent shades.
I created digital illustrations of common forms of single-use plastic, such as bottles, bags, utensils, and wrappers. I used a hand-drawn, rough technique to implement a sense of personality, authenticity, and uniqueness to my campaign. These illustrations were also turned into patterns to be used as backgrounds of collateral. Similar to the logo, I created a hand-drawn typeface for headings, representing the movement and tactility of plastic. This was paired with Neucha, a typeface that has a casual and friendly feel, appealing to a younger audience.
To combine all of these assets, I created a zine with a poster on the back, containing educational information about single-use plastic, and how people can contribute to reducing it. Other collateral consisted of posters, social media posts, and tote bags.
